Leaders of indigenous Mahle community in Rajshahi have demanded constitutional recognition of their rights and protection of their lands from grabbers.
Mahli Adibashi Artho-Samajik (socio-economical) Unnayan Sangastha (MASAUS) and Mahle Dighar Baisi Bangladesh on Sunday jointly held a press conference at Rajshahi Press Club where their leaders announced that the first Jitiya Mahle Festival will be held on Monday at Baganpara village in Godagari upazila.
There are around 30,000 Mahle indigenous peoples in the country, they said.
